they seem to get the closest shaves. Do they have a shaving speciality or do they have some secret? I know a beginning drag queen and he complains about his "shadow" and it is slightly visible so how can he hide it?

Dermablend makeup helps.

In the Middle East, instead of shaving, men have their face threaded. It pulls the hair out. Ouch.

Here's what you do:

1. Moisturize as part of a daily regimen. And when I say regimen, I mean all the stuff (drink plenty of water, Vitamin E, sun screen, etc...)

2. When you shave, use one of the good razors (like a Mach 3) and a)shave with the grain followed by b)shave against the grain, then c)shave against the grain with a lotion or baby powder instead of a shaving cream.

3. Then you can do one of two things. Use a salmon-colored concealer or color corrector (I first learned of this as a fix for under-eye circles) and apply it sparingly across the area that is dark from the beard OR you can use a foundation formulated for birthmarks and other hardcore discolorations like http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=139414&catid=35524&trxp1=0
Getting the color right can take some practice though. Hint: Start light and go darker.
Follow that up with your normal makeup routine and VIOLA!

I only know a few queens and have only asked one, but here was her answer:

1. Moisturize CONSTANTLY. If you have dry skin, this is going to be a lot harder. (Try Neutrogena, Olay, etc. - a 70-cent brand doesn't cut it.)

2. Shave twice a day.

Seriously, that's the only answer I've got for you. Sorry . . .

Wax, or theres this thing called "The Tweeze". Its a thing that painlessly pulls the hair from the roots so theres no stubble or shadow.
