they're trying to ask as many numbers as they can, so they can have their names added to the guiness book of records..
in all seriousness... it could be a lot of factors: maybe they lose the numbers they ask, or maybe they find other women along the way to hook up and forget about the woman they asked the number hours or days before.
if a guy asks for your number and never calls, (not because he lost your number), but because he is a fool not to call you, then he is definitely not worth your time. most likely he was looking for something brief with you.
then again.. he might call you when you least expect it!! how long ago did he ask for your number? maybe he's been caught up with other things.. give it a little more time. if you don't hear from him within the next two weeks or so.. i'd say forget about him..

Men may ask for many women's numbers in a night. You give them out to easily and they will not call. If I were going to give my number out I would play hard to get a little like this:
You: "Why should I give you my number"
Guy: some bs reason
You: "That is clever but I want you to know I will give it to you but I am not interested in hooking up or anything at the current time"
Guy: "I know that, I am not that type of guy"
You: "OK here it is..."
This extra work that the guy has done will make him more likely to call you back.

You do not want to call to soon, women will call you a pest. Or you have a girlfriend and he wanted to see if he could get a number. It has nothing to do with you just the situation we are in at the time.

Lots of men just ask for an ego boost, or in hope that you'll give more than your phone #. Others might just chicken out. They don't know what to say if they do call.
Try this - when a guy asks for your # and you want to give it, offer an exchange. You'll give him your # if he gives you his. If he gives you a fake, he's a waste of your time.

They are dispicable! lol
Before I was married, I only gave my number to men I really wished would call. I didn't wait around. Guys are all about the chase.

I dunno babe, maybe they get nervous and thought you gave them your number out of sympathy, or if you think about it if a guy asks for your number its either so he can call you later or hes just pretending to like you and takes it and never calls!! I had an instance 2 months ago where i met this guy and we hung out all night, he got my number and he never called!! i was livid!!! then a month later i was out and so was he and he come up to me! i could have hit him!! it was because he had met someone else, but then she had dropped him, so sucked in to him!! dont take being second best in anything!!! maybe hes a player!!

So they can brag to their friends that they got a number.
You really wouldn't want one of them calling anyway, they are trying to play you for a fool.
