First, not only men speed, women do as well. There's only one person in the world that I'm perfectly content to sit in the passenger seat with. But I've known some people who drive like they're 120 years old, & are far more of a hazard, as far as I'm concerned. Once is all it takes. I simply refuse to "ride" with someone other than my niece. I used to know someone who was always ready to get in a rage, whatever the potential consequences. I really don't much care what others say. I'd simply refuse to "ride" with him. You said you were polite about it, I don't know what else you can do but not let him drive. If you have your own car, just nicely tell him you'll "meet" him wherever you're going. No further explanation needed. I VERY much doubt he'll change. & yes, if someone "loves" you, they certainly can alter their behaviour if they know it distresses you, & please don't anyone tell me they can't.

You know, I was almost not going to answer this, until I saw the kind of advice other people were giving you: "Dump him"; "Kick him in the nuts", etc.
Three things:
1: Talk to him. If it isn't working, keep talking to him. I get the impression that when you've brought this up, so far, it's been in the form of "SLOW DOWN!!!" type, heat of the moment exclamations. He probably didn't take it well, and might have been tempted to continue speeding, just to antagonize you. A person who loves you can do this. It doesn't mean he doesn't love you, it just means he needs to vent a bit at the person he loves who is currently being a thorn in his side.
2: "If he/she loved me" questions lead to discontent. Asking somebody to slow down is one thing, but "If he/she loved me" questions are a plea for the person to change his/her nature. Love him for who he is. If he does A LOT of things like drive too fast that bother you, then maybe you don't belong together. If it's just the driving that bothers you, then maybe you should be happy that you have a boyfriend who only annoys you on a single issue.
3: Are you sure you're not being overly sensitive. You say in your question that you are scared of fast cars. How fast is he really going? Would most people be intimidated by his driving? If not, then maybe learning to deal with a little speed will be a good growth opportunity for you. Or maybe he just needs to slow down.
Talk to him. Work it out. Don't be combative, be communicative and come to a workable arrangement.

This is a big red flag that he doesn't care about you. It really has nothing to do with speeding. You asked him nice and he ignored you. My x hated it when i wore white socks, so i stopped. Speeding is an immature thing people do the same way they put loud mufflers on their cars or play their music loud enough to shake windows in the next car. It serves no purpose except to show everyone how childish they are.

My husband finds it fun to speed. I always asked him to stop speeding but he wouldn't. I finally explained to him that it is the speed limit not the speed minimum. Then, I stopped letting him drive with me in the car. Whenever we go anywhere I drive. It really annoys him but I don't care. He wouldn't respect me enough to slow down so I don't let him drive. So, just stop letting him drive.

The better question is how do we stop distracted driving in the first place?
My near accidents this year have been by young girls on the phone.

Yeah, with every girlfriend I've ever had. If you want to fix it, start driving everywhere yourself and let him ride with you. You could always break up with him to let him think about it for a while!
