I haven't had a period since december 2006 and it was my first one. It lasted for 17 days. I have an appointment to see the doctor on 4-3-07 and I 'm still a virgin. he wants to do labwork and I don't see why. I weigh 212.4 lbs. at the age of 14. I know I'm overweight. What could be causing my period to stop for 3 months?

yes, fat produces estrogen so that could be a reason... plus at age 14, your hormones are not regulated yet so periods could be irregular.

At the age of 14 it is not uncommon for your periods to be irregular. This is not something that you need to freak out over. My younger sister has the same type problem as you she is 13 and went for almost an entire year without having a period. She went to the doctor, they found nothing wrong with her. Even after all the blood work. So in the end the just put her on birth control to get her period to regulate. But if i was you i wouldnt worry about it. It will work out eventually.

if it was your first period, it takes awhile for you to get regulated. You may skip a few months or whatever.

I started when I was 12, and I didn't get fully regulated until I was 20.

Weight can also have a lot to do with how your period acts, but I don't think that is quite the issue. You just started your period. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

This happened to me once, only i didn't have it for a month and then i had it for three weeks straight. I never went to a doctor, but i'm fine.

The doctor is probably your best bet.
