Third base is very weak (Rich Aurillia) and so is my third of (Murton) becasue i just traded Andruw Jones and Adrian Beltre for Derek Jeter and Jason Giambi. I can't figure out what to do. The best FA's out there are Eric Chavez, Chad Tracy, Brandon Inge, Edwin Encarnacion, Akinori Iwamura, and Alex Gordon for 3B and Wally Taveras, Griffey, Juan Rivera, Carlos Quentin, Jaque Jones, and Trot Nixon for OF. I don't know if I should take a chance on a young guy, trade, or stick with a vet? My reserves are Frank Thomas, Giambi, Estrada, and I have Randy Johnson on the bench too. Thanks for the help!

All of your FA choices are better than Aurillia so make the move. Encarnacion is the safe bet out of that group, he is improving and getting his chance to play fulltime. That is why Aurillia was expendable. Alex Gordon is the pick for rookie of the year and you would be taking a big chance on him - I might risk it, he has looked good so far.

You have a spare catcher on your bench? Dump him. Catchers fill a spot, that is their only value. Having two catchers will kill you when you need players. If you didn't know what position a player was on defense and you picked 25 hitters for your team there would be maybe 3 catchers in the top 150 and Estrada is not one of them. Sometimes when your catcher has a day off it's better to go 0 for 0 than 0 for 4.
If you need SB's pick up Willy Taveras. If you need a little power and RBI's pick up Griff dawg and play him for the little time he is not on the DL. (he just played his first pre-season game and is supposed to be ready for opening day)... then even when he is not playing you can brag to your friends that your bench consists of The Big Hurt and The Always Hurt...

Pick up Alex Gordon. He is a rookie so you are taking a chance, but everything he is doing in spring training and has done in the minors (Minor League Player of the Year last year) points to major league success. The rest of options at 3B are what they are declining veterans whose best days have passed them by. As for OF Taveras is a good option especially if you dont have that category covered. I probably would lean towards Griffey. I know he is an injury risk but if he remains healthy you are probably going to get close to 100 runs and rbis along with 30-40 homers.

I really think that should pcik up chavez if hes healthy which im not sure of, if not get inge if he is set to start which i think he is and if not take encarnacion or maybe you did not mention mark teahen which is a cheap mans version of david wright. As for the OF I would pick up quentin depending on where in the diamondbacks order he bats and if not griffey. In your case where you have 2 strong bats like giambi and the big hurt on the bench try to trade one of them for either of the two positions you mentioned making it easier to deal with a less productive position.

pick up Alex Gordan. He has been named the starter at 3B for KC. He is also the top prospect in the major leagues. Look at other young 3B who have had early success (David Wright and Ryan Zimmerman). Pick up Griffey for your 3rd OF.

ok so for third base you could go for a ty wigginton who gives you flexibility at 1b,2b,3b and of....and for an outfielder i would give the job to chris duncan of mattmurton because duncan hit 24 homers last year and he didnt start half the time ...imagine hwat he will hit with the starting job this year? right now in spring training he has 5 homers id keep my eye on him and again for third base you could also go for a mike lowell as well if you want to take a chance on him but its up to you now...
hope i helped
goodluck
and have fun!!!

Umm... why on earth would you be starting Aurilia if Chavez, Tracy, Inge, Encarnocion and Gordon are on the WW? I would be starting ANY of those guys over Aurilia.
