The problem with American Idol is not Simon Cowell; he does his job which is to be a gatekeeper keeping out people who suck!! It is the "Vote early and Often" voting system that allows weak links like Sanjay Malakar to keep sliding in; in spite of the fact he does not have a good voice.
I also was not impressed with last years winner Taylor Hicks he is a horrible dancer who goes off key in the middle of such and has the personality of a smelly armpit; proof is Chris Daughtry who came in 4th to him vastly outsells him per Amazon.com and Jennifer Hudson who I feel was unfairly eliminated even earlier than Chris; went on to win an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in the movie "Dreamgirls"(Talk about not wasting time!), while Taylor Hicks has not been heard on the radio or VH1 and I do not see the talk shows being in any kind of a hurry to book him.
Even Simon has said if Sanjay wins he will move on, and I do not blame him, American Idol needs him more than he needs American Idol, and the show will come to an anticlimatic and unceremonious end if they insist on keeping the broken voting system they use. I personally have begun to lose interest.

People can say what they want to about Simon, but he KNOWS talent when he sees it, and the contestants know that he is going to be brutally blunt if need be...so no, without Simon, American Idol would not be the show that it is today....

I think people started watching because America has never been so honest and blunt the way Simon is. I remember being shocked by his honesty and the way he didnt care if he hurt anyones feelings, and i think people keep watching because of that. he says what people are thinking

As much as I hate to admit it you are right. Even though Simon can be downright nasty at times I think that that is one of the reasons why people tune in so much - just to hear what he's going to say!

I agree. Simon might not have any singing talent of his own. He knows what he is talking about when it comes to talent.

yeah i totally agree to you! w/o simon judging other contestants would be difficult because their are no more hot tongue like SIMON! you know simon is honest and his telling what's wrong with the contestants voice! and his being good with judging! and look the two judges (i dunno their names) are kinda less informative the way they judge! not like simon he's to konest and kind!
