Why does the priest pronouce man and wife? Isn't it supposed to be husband and wife? If man is used then wife should be woman.

Actually in the weddings I've attended over the past 10 years or so the Priest announces "I'd like to introduce Mr. and Mrs. ____________" There is no longer a prouncement of "man and wife" unless the couple asks for it....Some do choose to reword it to "husband and wife". Man and wife is from the "old days" when women were thought of more as property.

A marriage is a union made by the god and therefore it is only the Priest or the religious head to ceremonial the marriage.

Our priest says husband and wife. Maybe it depends what church you go to.(Catholic)

Usually they're presented as "Mr & Mrs"
