Not this upcoming election. i don't know if this country is ready for the jump yet...not to say that there are not fine and qualified women or men of color...or even women of color. i don't think the country would go for such a drastic change while we are in the midst of war. Within the next 16 years, though, it would not surprise me at all. Best wishes!

I do and to take it even further, I think the combination of Clinton/Obama would be unbeatable in '08. A short story, to kind of buttress my thoughts on this. On New Years Eve I attended a union party with my husband, who's a bricklayer. I sat there in a corner later that night, just listening to the guys talk politics over their cigars and shots. I was shocked to my core by how many of them said they would vote for Hillary Clinton. I was already supporting her, but I never expected to hear so many men - especially when I know so many of them are dedicated chauvinists - to say that and then defend their position over the few jeers they received. I think more people are ready for a woman or a black candidate more than some of us are ready to believe. The poll numbers certainly bear it out, and I've been encouraged by the positive remarks I get when I wear my Hillary tshirsts around town while doing errands. There will always be racists and misogynists, and they get noticed because they are often loud and obnoxious. But I really believe we are begin to rise above that in this country.

I think a black man should definitely have more of an opportunity than some evil woman like Hillary. If I could just get over the fact that this particular man has the middle name of Hussein and all those questionable ties to Americas enemies! What a pathetic choice the Democrats give.

A woman yes. Over half the voters are women. There should be no sensible reason why not.
A black probably not yet. The USA is loaded with hateful racist and bigots. And the big money is on their side. How many black men lead Fortune 500 corporations/political contributors?

As an English man I'd love to see that. I'd love to see the Americans leading the western world into a newera for the right reasons though only if they were the best candidates for the job otherwise it would be a weak decision.
IT'S TIME TO RISE!!!

Daydream.... "questionable ties to americas enemies"? name me one president who hasn't!!!

It would be nice to have a woman president, after all men have been doing it this long. I don't think it will happen though.

I think Americans (or specifically politicians) would favor a black man over a woman.

George dear, I don't think any of the raggedy bunch of candidates, dem or repub, have a snow ball's chance.
