You need a fan to circulate the air, otherwise the a/c is not efficient, you need a filter to trap the dust..☺

Using A.C without the fan is o.k. but in that case the thermo stat settings need to be much lower say
19 degrees Celsius.
I have been using AC for the last 25 years now in the Hot and humid Mumbai India.
I am comfortable with A C setting at 22 or 23 Celsius
along with slow / moderate speed fan running along with.
I think that this is actually more economical than an
A C running without the fan but at a much lower thermostat setting

Switching on a ceiling fan in Air conditioned room is a better idea than A/c. without fan. A/c is normally installed on a wall i.e. side of a room so the flow of air and dispersion of cool air is not proper. But if you switch on a fan, which is normally installed in centre of room, the dispersion of air is proper and in-fact you can have a higher temperature setting of A/c. thereby saving in energy cost. Regarding dust, you have to clean filters periodically depending upon the type of dusty atmosphere around you stay.
Using fan with A/c. is better than using A/c.alone.

Fan is not required if ac is good, clean, efficient & noise proof. Room cleaning & regular filter cleaning are must. In ac rooms same air recirculates . So, pollution level is at least 5 times more than non ac rooms causing influenza & other health problems. So, use ac only when it is a must. People living in ac rooms for long time cannot withstand outside atmosphere & frequently fall ill. Their weight also starts increasing to uncomfortable level reducing life span too.

You need to run the fan to move the air, otherwise its very inefficient. Your AC should have a filter on the fresh air intake to remove the dust from the air.

The technician was wrong and that is what AC filters are made for. You can switch your fan (ceiling) into summer mode. That should help with air circulation. Otherwise, cooling is uneffected in a residential application by a fan.

in fact only ac running is enough,if u switch on fan which stirs up dust n ur aircon takes in the dust,so ur aircon is faster getting dirty that u need to service it every now n then.so what ur technicians said r correct.
