Depends on what sort of cheerleading you are referring to.
Is it the kind of cheerleading seen in most high schools where you have a bunch of popular girls prancing around in short skirts? No, this is not a sport.
However, cheerleading in the sense where you have a group of people who choreograph a difficult routine together that consists of flips, cartwheels, people thrown in the air, etc., yes this is considered a sport. It takes practice, time, and teamwork, much like most sports.

Yes! It is extremely physical. I don't know what a certification has to do with making it a sport or not!
The girls train...some for years. They practice everyday! It takes strength and cordination!

if you go to compititions it is but if u dont then i would consider it an exercise ... just because its not a sport though , doesnt mean it isnt hard or a great thing to do to keep in shape

yes. they have tournaments,trophies and awards and every thing. some are very serious about it. its not just for highschool sports anymore

rah rah = no, but competition cheering is. it requires being in shape and lots of skill. you just can't walk up and do it. it takes hard practice, just like football. except with no padding. =]
