So basically my life is dancing, 6 days a week, out til like 10 every night, you know the drill. So I'm in junior high, and I will admit I'm definately stronger than most girls my age. I like wearing tight-ish shirts and short skirts to school. Anyways, so I was just sitting in class, and this guy comes up to me and asks, "Are you diesel? Do you lift weights?" Well, I'm extremely girly, so being super muscular isn't exactly on the top of my list (especially because the guy that asked me is kinda cute....)....... Also, when I stand in first, I have a little trouble putting my heels together because my calf muscles are kinda big....... They're not that big, but do you think it's okay for a girl to be like pretty muscular looking (I'm talking about arms and legs, because I'm no where near a six pack)???? Thanks in advance!

I stand out too because I'm tall (5'8") and muscular, especially for an Asian chick. I used to be self conscious about about it, especially in jr high school, because I was just bigger and stronger than both the guys and girls and I was kinda picked on (not too much though, I think they were afriad of me).

Then I hit high school, the boy grew up and started hitting on me, and the girls either liked me or were jealous of me. Either way, I've continued to work out all through college. I love being strong - wouldn't give it up for the world!

It's definitely okay for girls to be muscular!!! As long as you don't look like those women that have the six packs and the giant bulging muscles that make a biker dude faint...and hey some people like that kinda thing too! It's a fact that guys like developed bodies and that's the way God meant for us to look. You should be glad you look that way. Once you get older you'll notice that more but I remember being really self concious about my calves. Trust me, (and I'm sure some guys will answer to confirm this), developed leg muscles are very good. I'm 17 and I dance a lot...I get complimented on my body all the time.Just be glad you aren't flabby!

I think that if you like the way you look it doesn't matter how anyone else thinks you do, and being muscular isn't a bad thing. I look pretty muscular for a dancer because I take karate as well as ballet, but the big bonus comes because I can kick some, er... derriere. I kind of have the calf problem, but not as bad as yours sounds. I would suggest you do more ballet exercises, because that will make your muscles longer and leaner instead of bulkier, if that helps.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with girls having the muscles. Women's bodies can build muscle, too - not just men. Nothing wrong with it at all. Guys have a fragile ego where they cannot feel very manly when they see a females who are strong and confident. Some guys are stupid and insecure and they feel less manly next to a female who is powerful with her mind and her body. That does NOT mean the girl should change - It means the guys have lots of growing up to do and get a reality check. Shape your body as YOU please, and try pilates if you don't want to bulk up. My wife runs and she's got a 6-pack like one of those Soloflex models.

It's definitely ok to have muscles. Your bones will thank you for it in your old age. What a shame that young man felt uncomfortable around a young woman who cares for her body and her future more than being a stick-thin heroin-chic mannequin.
