How can Rudy still be in the hunt for 2008? Are conservatives still unaware of his positions? What gives, and when will this guy be dropped like a bad habit?
Support for abortion, partial birth abortion, government funded abortion
Supports illegal immigration
Supports gay marriage
Supports strong gun control

How does fighting crime in a big city translate to anything in Washington D.C.? It doesn't.

I don't know!!!
Why isn't there a "great" Republican candidate running?
(Are there even any quality ones available?!)
I'm really disappointed in those running so far... REALLY DISAPPOINTED!!!
We're gonna give the Democrats the Whitehouse by DEFAULT, and I REALLY hate that!!!

Because people like him, plain and simple. Just look at his record on combating crime. How under his leadership, the violent crime rate dropped over 50% between 1993-2001 and in the same time period, murders dropped by two-thirds.
For the record his is pro-choice, not for abortion, there's a wold of difference between these two phrases. Also while he is for gun control, he's not the kind of guy who would take your guns from your cold dead hands. He is for registration and background checks which are fairly reasonable. And he is not for illegal immigration, which would signal an open-borders policy. He is for immigration, but not the illegal kind.
He is for gay rights, which I really don't understand how gay marriage could possibly hurt straight marriages.
He is a fiscal conservative and is for smaller government, so yea by definition of those core beliefs, he is a Republican.
People like Rudy, that's it. Despite some of his more liberal social views, conservatives really like him.

Rudy is about the only hope the Republican party actually has in '08. McCain is too old and would be the oldest person ever elected to a first term in history. Nobody else has any cred left with the American public.
The Republican party has fallen on their collective swords over Iraq and by foolishly backing a clown for a president. They're starting to realize that now and are scrambling to regroup but it's not likely that the public will be swayed by their "better late than never" tactics now. Sad. I used to be part of the "party faithful" but those days are behind me now.

He doesn't really support abortion, but refuses to be anti-abortion. He's basically a very soft pro-lifer that won't support anti-abortion legislation.
He doesn't support illegal immigration, but is 'soft' on it.
I didn't know that he supports gay marriage; I heart that it was just gay unions that he supports.
Gun control? Most people don't really care about that.
He's a moderate republican, and will be supported by many republicans, MANY MANY moderates, and even some conservative democrats.

There is no way the Republicans can win with a pro choice candidate. They depend too much on the single issue anti-abortion voters.
As a matter of fact, if abortion were ever to become illegal again, that would be the end of the Republican revolution.

Leave Rudy alone. I think it is great that he may be the Republican front runner. Conservatives wouldn't vote for him because he comes across as too liberal for them. Democrats wouldn't vote for him because he has had ZERO federal government experience as compared to the Democratic front runners. That would mean a landslide for the Democrats in 2008 both for President and both chambers of Congress.

I dont know what facts you have that say he supports illegal immigration....that sounds ridiculous. Also, when he was elected mayor of NYC, there were over 3000 murders a year in the city, he thought it best that he get strict on gun control in the city, and it worked, the murder rate went down every year he was in office, until 2001, when terrorists equaled that number in one day.
I dont think that he would try and create legislation on any kind of gun control on a federal level.

I agree that Rudy is a bit too "liberal' on certain issues that ordinarily make a staunch Republican wince...I wish he could lean a tad more to the right if he hopes to garner those important Conservative votes...still....
