Because 50 candidates would dilute the field so much that we wouldn't be able to find one to get a majority, probably. We actually have more than two if you count all the candidates in the primaries. It just brings the process down to a final vote where we can get a majority, hopefully. But then we have the electoral college which actually "chooses" the president. We really are only voting for delegates to the electoral college.

Who wants to see 50 ugly presidents??? Plus..Miss Americas are easier to take. They don't seem to have any other opinions besides saying that they "Want world peace."
Presidents have too much to say. Too many confusing, differing opinions.

there are more than two candidates running for president. You probably only pay attention to the republican candidate and the democratic candidate. If you look at the ballot, there are many other parties that have nominated a candidate, but nobody really pays attention to them because this country is really just a two party system.

because of the fact the winner of pass over usa is unquestionably unlikely to impression every physique - the winner of the presidential race is going to have some impression on lots of the worldwide. So it would be advantageous if that individual had a minimum of a majority vote.

if you look on the balot sheet there are more people running even communists you can even fill in the blank and put your name in there it worked for edie murphy in one of his movies who was running for congress
