It's not that good either. There are some bare spots, a spot where they had a pool (which has grass its just a different color than the rest of the lawn) , and just general thinness throughout. Where to start..fertilizer to help what is there?..Then put down more seed?..or seed then fertilizer...or what? What kind of grass to plant?

If its an established lawn I would
1) Aerate the lawn with a power aerator
2) rake in a good compost
3) Seed the bare areas with a good seed mixture for your area(check the local home improvement store). If it really bare cover with a layer of peat moss to hold moisture and water several times a day until it germinates and takes hold.
4) Water deeply and no more than every other day and less of your soil allows it soak in well(the aeration will help this)
5) Mow with a mulching mower
6) At the end of summer fertilize with a fertilizer with little water soluble nitrogen

I rarely use fertilizer on my lawn. I prefer to work organics into it in the spring and always use a mulching mower to allow the clippings to break down and add organics to the soil.

First I would rent a power aerator to aerate the yard. Then I would spread about a 1" layer of compost. Rake it in then water. Get some good grass seed and spread in the bare or really thin areas. On the bare areas top with a little humus or peat moss. This will help hold in moisture.

Keep soil moist until the seeds have sprouted. You can also have your soil tested to see what other amendments are needed.

First mow your lawn pretty short.

Rent a slit seeder from an equipment rental place. Overseed your lawn with a good quality fescue that is appropriate to your zone. Water nightly.

Don't mow until the lawn is "too long" and then set your mower one the highest setting. Keep cutting your lawn on this high setting for about a month until your new baby grasses are strong. You will have to mow more often but you don't want to scalp those new babies.

Hold off on fertilizing until your seed is strong. Probably about 4 mows. Then start your lawn on Scotts 4 step program.

Congratulations on your new home!

My kinfolk in basic terms bought my sister and that i Jonas Brothers tickets immediately, and that they are backyard seats. i bypass on July 23 in Indianapolis, IN. they are placed in the back, so which you would be the two sitting on a blanket, status or in a backyard chair. in keeping with which place you bypass, they might have monitors you may watch and such. choose for it! in case you adore the music as much as I do, it rather is why you're there. :D playstation : i does not pay over $one hundred for a JB stay overall performance...and my wager the advantageous tickets are bought out already.

Go to our local Home Depot. Grass is different in different areas of the country. They can advise you as to type of reseeding grass you need as well as what fertilizer is best in your area,

A good trick for grass seed. Put it in a screen bag and soak it in water overnight, then let it dry out. Then soak it in water overnight and let it dry out again.

Repeat for a week.

When you sow it, it'll sprout almost right away.
