I live in a nice home in NYC and I drive a Honda. I am happy with what I have. Since it is my mom's home I technically will never be able to afford it if I was ever in a position to purchase a home, so I rather have a simple car.
I believe those people that drive "nice" cars and live in the "ghetto", don't have any real knowledge of finance. A house is an asset that appreciates, while a car is an asset that depreciates. I think culture has alot to do with it too, while all of my brother's co-workers are driving really expensive cars, he is busying stocking away for retirement and he drives a Nissan that is extremely reliable.

I'd rather have a nice house and live in a safe neighborhood. A lot of times people are materialistic and waste money that they should save for the sake of bragging rights, but some people just live there so that they can be closer to their jobs.

They just have priorities all mixed up, what good is a nice car if it gets broken into once a month.
The ghetto wouldn't be such a bad place if people just took a little pride in their houses there, then it would be a neighborhood just like any other.

I rather live in a nice Loft apartment. Some people have different priorities. My friend lives in the Projects but he has a Benz. Weird but monthly payments aren't that high. He makes a lot of money and he saves a lot.

i have a nice car and live in the ghetto. what's wrong with that?! i'd love to have a lovely house somewhere in the valley or something, but i'm not. not right now. when i get to that status to where i can afford a lovely house in l.a. county, then i'll have my nice house and car.

it feels good to drive a nice car... just because one lives in the 'ghetto' does not mean they cant afford a nice car... and it is a heckuva lot easier to get an affordable car loan than a mortgage.
also some chose to live there because it is their home.
and MOST imprtant the 'ghettos' are filled with blacks and hispanics and it is RACISM that makes it VERY difficult for them to move up.

Believe it or not, some people have good jobs and choose to stay in the neighborhood.

I'd rather live in a nice segregated neighborhood with no non-whites.
