Ok I would be like you vacation planner! Im tellin you! lol!
i dunno if your going with someone (special) but...Ok Im gonna list them in order...
♥ First rent the hotel across from the riverwalk
♥Stay in the hotel for the rest of the night
♥Next day wake up get dressed into comfortable clothes, your gonna be walking ALOT!
♥Go to the Riverwalk walk around look at the different places
♥Take a boat ride it would be so great!
♥Mabey go to the mall. You don't have to. But I should mention they have 3 floors and it has an imax and a movie theater! lol!
♥Then you could either go to hard rock cafe or rain forest cafe. Hard rock cafe I'm going this weekend (my first time!) But others say its great! I can't wait to go. Rain forest cafe is super awsome! It has animals inside of it (not real) and they make noise. If your in the third floor it sounds like its raining with the noise of the thunder and a flash of lightning! Its so exciting! Their food is good too! lol!
♥Mabey go to the alamo or the wax mueseum. They are both great but I would go to the wax museum
♥Then if your going with someone like I said, at night rent a carriage and ride around it would be beautiful.
♥Then if your old enough and have someone else with you go eat at chilis or something like that.
Thats the whole day! I so love SA! Its so freakin great! lol! ♥

Downtown has lots of Spanish influences. As the person before me said the market is a good place to go. Also, there is a restaurant called Mi Tiaras across from it which serves ethnic Mexican food and is open 24/7. The Omni La mansion Del Rio is a very nice place to stay but it is pricey. Here's the site that I use to plan my visits to San Antonio:
www.sanantoniocvb.com/save/

On this site you can find discounts on 4 star hotel rooms and all there is to do in San Antonio.

The river walk is in down city San Antonio. i'm slightly shocked that the only place that my fellow San Antonians look to appreciate approximately is the River walk Mall, Frankly that's purely a number of eye candy and in case you do not recommendations paying extra that's a great place to pass yet on the different hand in case you're coming to do the yearly element like figuring out to purchase clothing for babies to return to college in, that's some thing diverse. I raised 3 babies and if I had to purchase clothing for them nevertheless it does not be on the River walk Mall. i could pass to Ingram sq. and around the corner Ingram Park. those are on the North west area on I-410 there's a Stafford hotel desirable around the Hwy variety them. From there to down city that's approximately quarter-hour. i visit point out that there are a number of different great department stores up and down I-410. So the alternative is as much as you, you're able to do the vacationer element and head to the River walk mall or you're able to do what maximum folk truly do and that's pass the place we are able to do the main with our funds. What ever you settle on have a stable time right here and are available on back.

Go to the missions (Like The Alamo), a good place to eat but expect to waste a couple of bucks ($6-9 a person) is "Pico De Gallo". Go to the muesems to see histroical items of the Texas Revolution. If you want to do see accually Spanish go see a Mariachi concert.

Go to the Alamo, they also have a trolley that takes you to all of the Spanish missions in the area. You can check with the concierge at your hotel. Market Square is another great stop, there are shops and Mexican restaurants all within walking distance. The Spanish Governor's Palace is another place you can go and it's within walking distance from Market Square. Also you can go to the Texan Culture Museum. Have a great time!

OK, yes, you have to stay on the Riverwalk. ALthough it is expensive, I highly recommend La Mansion Del Rio. Nice rooms, nice place on the Riverwalk, very authentic.

Go to the Alamo. Go to the market. Go to the Artist place downtown (forget the name). If you have kids, the Children's Museum is pretty cool.

A lot of good answers already, but don't forget the Spanish Govenor's palace too. It's in easy walking distance of the rest of downtown.

The Spanish influences pretty much stop at the missions. After that, the rest is Mexican influences, and there are TONS of them in SA.
