My last name is Stern, would it be okay to name my daughter Howard?

I really like the name Howard, and I really like Howard Stern. I am having a daughter, even though I was wishing for a boy, to name it Howard Stern. However, I got a girl. Me and my Husband decided that we only wanted one child. No adoption, either. So I was just thinking " what the heck. I'll name my daughter Howard."
I just wanted to see other peoples opinions first, though.
I like it.
The more I think about it, the more I fall in love with the girls name Howard Stern.

Howard is not a good choice for a girl. Someday hopefully she will get married, so her last name will change, but her
first name won't. She will still be HOWARD. She'll be teased at school and people will always think she is a guy. When she gets to college, she'll wind up with a room in an all boys dorm because of the first name HOWARD! Keep the H and consider Hailey or Hannah.

I wouldn't name your daughter Howard. Just because it a strong boy name and she could run into the possibility of being picked on because of it. Also, how many guys will want to date a girl named Howard? Though, of course, I'm not saying that the name will cause her nothing but trouble. But, it will present some problems. It's much easier for a name like that to be a middle name. But of course, it's your choice and who knows...maybe you will change the way people look at the name Howard.

By the way, Howard is a boys name and the poor girl is going to be harassed as well becaue Howard Stern can either relate to the crazy radio talk show host or Anna Nicole Smiths lawyer buddy.

Boy or girl, this is a bad idea. Assuming Howard is still popular in another decade, expect teasing on the playground.

However, a boy can at least get by with the fact that Howard is a perfectly fine name.

A girl, however, is going to raise eyebrows.

More to the point, you actually want to associate your baby with someone that makes a living by being shocking and offensive. It's OK for an adult to like Stern, but I cannot see why you'd want to look at your baby and think about incest, strippers, and pornography.

Howard is an aweful name for a girl. Don't just think about yourself, think about your little girl. Its one thing to name it a boyish name like Joey, which can kinda go wither way, its another to pick a name no one for there life would give to a girl. Oh god, please no! You may like Howard Stern, but what if your daughter doesn't like him when she's older and learns who he is. She would probably get sick of the comments and jokes too. Howard for a girl's name is pretty cute, but if you must use it, make it her middle name. Congrats on the impending arrival by the way!
