I have a 99' Cadillac Deville. It is hard to get it to crank in the morning, but after i get it to crank once, it will turn over for the rest of the day, as long as i don't let it set for to long(6 or 7 hrs.) The lights don't dim when i try to start it. The battery is good. I don't know if it could possibly be the Inadvertant Power Relay because the inadvertant power relay clicks when i try to start it, but iam really not sure what that is/or what it does. All the lights, and windsheild wipers work. I don't think it is the starter or ignition switch because it starts fine, and runs fine after I get it started atleast once, and don't let it set for long. Any Suggestions would be very helpful, and if anyone has any information on the inadvertant power relay i would very much appreciate it. Thank You

i own a repair shop ,and it sounds like you may be having a fuel pump trying to go out on it,this is how they,ll do when they are going bad it takes them a while to build up fuel pressure, and then once its built up it will start good the rest of the day,gm had a problem with some fuel pumps they used from 1998 until the year 2003, but they didn't make a big deal about it,if one went bad and was under warranty they just replaced,it not all of them did go bad,but the majority of them did,try having this checked i think you,ll find your problem ,good luck i hope this helps.

if what you mean by a hard to get it to crank meaning it just wont turn over at all and you have to keep trying to turn the key and nothing happens then if in the morning you go out to the car and it does the no cranking over thing put your foot on the brake shift in to drive then back up in to park it should turn right over.
if you mean it has slow dull cranking action in the morning and fo the rest of the day it is fine then first replace the wire going from the battery to the starter also the ground wire. and make sure the ground is firmly mounted. i would also replace the plastic jack that goes in the back of the alternator.in fact look at that and see if it looks like to has some burn marks on it if it does then it needs to be replaced.
last thing if those don't work replace your ignition switch.
then first suggestion will not cost any thing it just if that is the cause it just means your car its a little older. the relay that does not let you start the car when it is in drive just need a little adjustment every now and then to get to where it needs to be. the second will not be that bad especially if you like to do thing your self. the last on is going to cost especially in a caddy. now all these suggestions are if you have already had the battery, starter, and the alternator checked and the are all good to go

sounds more like fuel pressure dropping off. after it sets for a wile try turning on the key a couple times for the fuel pump to build pressure before actually starting the engine.
on the fuel rail is a fuel pressure regulator to maintain enough pressure to run the engine and excess goes back to the tank.
other than that a fuel pump may be going bad.

get a bigger battery the cold cranking amps are tired when the engine is cold it needs mor eamps and a old battery loses these amps even when the tests ok you can always take the batery back for a refund if it does not fix it but i know it will. there are no known troubles in that area

Try moving the steering wheel around (pushing side to side, up and down) before and while you turn the key.
