"what would freud say is human nature?"
Freud would say that human nature is to experience conflict. I'm referring to conflict as a subconscious experience. That pretty much sums up the complexes that involve sex (Oedipus complex and I can't remember the other one) and the conflicts between the id, the ego, and the superego.

To never be truly happy. To both need social control, and to bitterly resent it. To be unable to face reality without comforting myths and beliefs.
