Do you plan on studying social work in college? The courses you take in college will be more important than the courses in H.S.
In general in H.S. you will want to take a good college prep program (that is math, science, social science, humanities, language, etc.) you will also want to have volunteer experience in working with people, or social causes.
In college you will want to take a good liberal arts foundation and apply to a BSW program.

Sociology, spanish (or an foreign language), psychology, logic or problem solving classes (anything involving critical thought), any kind of social science, and be sure and have all your maths and sciences in order so that you will be able to fit everything in. Social work is a great field and a Bachelor of Social Work degree is very versatile.

You will soon find out everything you did in high school you will have to re-do in college. I was so upset when i found out i had to retake chem 101 bio 101 math 110. They will not transfer unles the are AP classes. I would suggest doing running start at your local CC and apply those classes to your high school graduation. That way you wont be repeating, what a stupid system the US has....

Psychology, abnormal psychology, algebra, English, computers and anything about human development. If you take these classes in high school you will have a good working knowledge and a firm base when you start college.
I have graduated with my associates and will graduate with my bachelors in Spring 2008.

First things first.
In high school, take the courses that will prepare you for, and get you into, college. This is usually called the College Preparatory program, or something like that.
What you take in college will determine your career path.

Discuss it with your counselor next time you see them. The counselor would know exactly what courses your school offers that meet the prerequisites for a degree in the field of social work.
