Not much traffic from M.E. to N. York then, I shouldn't have thought. N.Africa, perhaps. (Do you mean pre or post armistice?) If the former, you would first have to pick up a convoy at Gibraltar which could have involved any amount of time while you waited for one to be assembled and provided with escorts. (It's not the speed of the ship, but the speed of the convoy - usually an agonizing 5 to 6 knots - and the time taken to organise it. So maybe, two months, assuming you don't get torpedoed.
Although by 1945 the chances of that had been greatly reduced as a result of allied successes in the Battle of The Atlantic by commanders such as, notably, Captain Frederic John (Johnnie) Walker CB, DSO and three Bars, RN.

Girly Brains has it right that most merchant ships in 1945 did maybe 7 miles an hour tops......hard to believe but true...even allowing 10 knots and no stops, Port Said Egypt to Gibraltar is 2500 miles, Gib to NY is 3500 ( rough numbers here folks)....so 6000 / 10 is 600 hours underway ......so 25 to 30 days...

I don,t know how longe it would take,beacase I don't know what longe means. Also I have no idea where the midle east is. Also where is the other middle east?
