EGR FAILURE ON CARVAN IS USUALLY DUE TO SOLENOID FAILURE NOT THE EGR VALVE IT SELF JUST REPLACE THE SOLENOID

You need to rule out electrical (wiring problems, i.e short to ground, ect.) to the solonoid. wiring diagrams will be required as well as a DVOM or even at the least a test lite.

Once you rule out the wiring you can follow service info for testing the componants operation of EGR on that vehicle..

You dont want to buy an uneccesary part..without knowing it is faulty.

Sounds like the electrical connector may be loose at EGR.The EGR is located on the rear exhaust manifold and hard to get at .Either take it to a garage where they can put it on a lift or place the front wheels on ramps and check for yourself.
