I did not ask for a lesson on volunteering. I have done plenty of other volunteering. I just wanted to know if I am allowed to check this box off or not, and no it does not specify time.

For two hours of volunteering. Get real! There are many needs and you can afford to give more time! Then you can check it.

Morally, you shouldn't be allowed to check it off. You volunteered for 2 hours, and from the way you said it, it seems like you only did for the benefit of a checkmark on your application. I wouldn't check it off. Especially since they may ask you in your interview about it.

"Oh, how many hours did you get at the homeless shelter?"

If the application does not specify the time, it should count.
