i remember when i was a kid i use to watch a horror tv show that scared the crap outa me at least the intro did i remember that it use to be a family of fat greasy rather deformed people and i think the kid would say something like look its starting and they all would gather around the tv then the show would start but not before a muahahahaha if i remember correctly i think the kid well the boy at least had one eye as a point of reference i think they looked like the fat greasy baby that came out in the movie Nothing but trouble. with chevy chase and john candy and dan akroyd any help would greatly be appreciated

I know exactly what you are talking about now. That was the show called "Monsters". I remember it was a show like "Tales From The Darkside" except every episode had a monster of some sort in it. It took me awhile to remember the opening intro you mentioned. They made it look like the monsters had their own world watching us normal people on tv. One episode I remember was the one with the man who had a makeup case that could turn him into movie monsters.
