Grass grows badly in shade. Why not just have a soft, fragrant carpet of pine needles?

almost any that will survive in a shade area and that ou keep the pine needles off the grass

Zosia, but you have to get rid of the pine needles until it takes root, and then keep them racked up or it will kill that grass also.
