I wonder where you get this information from. As a Greek I lived and worked in Turkey for 6 months and I have the best memories.
Just think that 15.000.000 million tourists visit Greece every summer, including muslims and Turks. Do you think that all those like to risk their lives?
And at last but not least, the same goes for Turkey.
Bon voyage!

I am a single American woman (even though my name is Jeffrey, believe me...I am indeed a female...just have an unusual name!) and I have lived in Athens for almost 2 years. I feel completely safe everywhere I go, and I have been all over the city and the country. I feel very comfortable walking around by myself at all hours of the night or day, if I happen to choose to be out late. If I am out with friends and we part ways at the end of our time together, I don't feel that I need anyone to accompany me. Generally speaking, the only crimes I ever hear of are things like purse-snatchings or something, so one should never assume that NOTHING will happen if you are careless. But I do not fear for my personal safety at all. Again, I'm not careless and I don't usually walk down dark deserted alleyways or something, but I feel perfectly safe everywhere that I go.

If it wasn't secure it in all possibility does not be this sort of favorite between vacationers from around the worldwide.. I unquestionably have American and Canadian acquaintances who love Greece a lot they ended up procuring homes in fairly some places -and maximum of them have chosen the islands. That way they spend not in basic terms a holiday yet an entire season in Greece. maximum of them say they had stay there is they could. 2 of them have performed that already. a number of the flaws that made you ask your self however if it particularly is a secure united states of america or not are exaggerations. particular, there have been protests. Do those protests even evaluate to what's occurring in different international locations? I doubt it. verify to bypass to the Parthenon/Acropolis, the museum, the midsection of Athens, and as previous answerers stated make a journey to an island. All islands are alluring. Skiathos is my own fashionable, in the Aegean and intensely close to the city of Volos and mountain Pelion.

Greece is a very safe country and Athens is the safest capital in Europe. Having said that, there is no guarantee to be given as the Athens area is 4.5 million people with a lot of illegal aliens. Petty crimes do occur. Keep your passport and money close to you if you are in public transport.
You need not worry about religious or racial discrimination

1. Yes.
2. Probably not, unless they take unnecessary risks such as walking alone in dark streets downtown flaunting their wealth.
3. Yes. In fact, many muslims live here.
4. Yes, unless they go out of their way looking for trouble.
5. No. They are not more likely to beat muslims than christians, Jews, or Budhists.
6. I don;t understand the question.

I think that the game is continuing, and I am not laughing at all...
Well, I ll reply you, even though I dont believe so much that it is so innocent..
First of all my dear, concerning security, i dont think that in USA there is so so much,we are watching tv...
In the big cities everywhere there is danger...
If you ask the muslim minority and comunity, they say that it is the only country where they have been so well wellcome....
And concerning the turks....we havent killed anyone here, the opposite, they come, and they have their right to be afraid, because in both countries the states fanatise people but they live with the best impresions...So, it s up to you to do comments...And please...

I am from the USA and I go also alone all around sometimes in Athens and Halkidiki area without any fear. Most of times I am with my Greek friends but even then we walk nights late and early morning hours and I never felt threatened in any way. Have been going every year for soon to be my 8th trip....as one answered..its safer than here in the states to walk on the streets at night.

Any where you visit, common sense should keep you safe. But,living here myself,I find many Greeks do not care for Americans,British or Turks. That said, unless you go out looking for trouble, you are as safe here as in any other metropolitan area.Half the time who can tell by looking at you what nationality or religeon you are?
