I am extremely depressed because I do not like the work enviornment that I am in, but there is nothing right now that I can do about it. I have been searching diligently for another job but am not able to find one and because the economy is bad here in Michigan it is difficult for people to find jobs here. People here are already losing their jobs. Also, I don't like the work environment that I am in either. Mainly because of the people The people where I live are so arrogant and all they care about is apperances. If you don't appear to be what they think you look like, they'll try to make your life a living hell. This is the same way with my job. I tired of being critized for my apperance by society because I don't have the prettiest face or the nicest body This has really killed my self-esttem. Its hard to feel good about yourself when society is always critizing your appearance.I need so advice.Serious answers only please. No sarcasm.

There's a great book I read once called Don't Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson. It's a self-help book, and many people don't like to read self-help books, but there is nothing wrong with admitting that you aren't perfect. It's actually an important part to improving yourself.

In addition to suggesting you read this, I will tell you that one way to be happy is to look at your life in a positive way. Instead of saying "oh jeez, another problem with my life" look at it in a different way and say "great! Another chance for me to overcome something and make me stronger"

I once heard someone say "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger". I agree. Everything you go through in life makes you a better, more experienced person.

There's a lot of things in life that you can't change. But your job is not one of them. If you don't like where you are because it is degrading or awful for whatever reason to work there, you can always get out. It is never too late.

no matter where u live In the world there is a 'society' everyone judges and forms opinions about someone else sub consciously without realizing, there based on fragments of information or a simple glance, you (and i to) have to look at ourselves and think well how do i think i look when im all alone before someone makes u second doubt? well u have to have a lil pride or mild satisfaction or else u wouldnt leave the house? as long as u remember that, itl get better. these people dont no u and no doubt someone has made them feel the exact same way u feel at that moment, its all a cycle and i can tell ur better than that! treat people the way u would like to be treated even those who are horrible reply with a nice comment like 'im sorry u feel that way susan i was just thinking how nice your hair looks' i no it sounds corney but nothing beats that feeling of the realisation ur not playing there game ur starting a new 'society'

First of all, what others think about you or your appearance doesn't matter. It's what you think that matters.
If everyone was a beauty this would be a dull world. Concentrate on your strengths. Are you smart, funny, kind? Whatever is good about you is what matters.
And, the old cliche is very true, there are people with worse problems than the ones you have. Count your blessings. If none of this helps, see a doctor. You may have clinical depression which can be cured.

.. Well, if someone criticizes your appearance.. tell them to shut up, lol. Same with the ones who are trying to make your life a living hell. Confront them! When you say "there's nothing I can do about it".. that's not true, and saying that is only going to make you feel more helpless and depressed.

I'm not sure of your financial situation, but so it seems, I think you need to relocate to a place with people that don't make you so incredibly depressed. Look for job offers online in an area where you feel comfortable. If you find something, go for it, and move.

You and me both! It helps a great deal to be able to talk to someone. Someone you can trust and if you have to, get a counselor. It has worked for me. I empathize with you, just hang in there is all I can say, I live to far away from you. God bless.
