the pet store person said its the sumo(something) fish its long skinny and stays at the bottom of the tank

That would be a sumo loach (Schistura balteata). Pretty cool fish. Here's a link:

Its most likely a type of loach. Possibly a kuhli loach. Sumo would just be its common name.
