Here's the deal. The MVP award is about which player is more important for his team in order to win and make it to the playoff, in other words between Nash, Dirk, Kobe and lebron which player do you think is more important to their team in order to make it to playoff? Once you think about it you realize that the award should go to Kobe or Lerbon cuz' their teams wouldn't have any chances of making it without them.

MVP has many different meaning to many different people, which is why there is never ONE candidate.

in lookin at the 4 mentioned players, all have valued reasons why they should be the MVP. however, historically, the MVP goes to a player on one of the L leading teams. the lakers and the cavs are not teams that are on top of the tables.

dirk hasnt missed many games so u cant gauge how well the team would do if he wasnt suiting up. nash we have seen go down for 4 games and his team lose 3 of them. everyone says the team makes nash and that without those all stars he would be crap. well take nash away and the team loses 3 games...the tables turn!!

all 4 have justified reasons and are all well deservant. however the award will most likely go to dirk or nash. you cant give the award for MVP to a player who is on a team that will qualify 6-8th in the playoffs. the MVP is on the better teams in the L, which is why so many great players never won MVP awards.

I think you're right on. Yeah Steve Nash and dirk provide much needed assets to their team but if there wasnt a Kobe on the lakers or a Lebron on the cavs they would jus be highschool/college teams. The award in my book goes to Kobe hes realy done a great job this year.

And if you really think about it you'd realize that it was Steve Nash. The Suns are the second best team in the NBA right now with a 52-17 record. In the last three years, the Suns are 151-49 with Nash in the lineup and 4-11 without Nash. HMMMMM. Not much thought there.

Also, if it truly were the best player in the league wouldn't Wilt have more than 4 MVP awards? He led the NBA in scoring 7 times and in rebounding 11 times and even led in assists one year. Your argument of "their teams wouldn't have any chances of making it without them" would hold true for Wilt as it does for them. Heck, it's true for Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Pau Gasol, and many other players in the NBA. Do you want to include them as well?

the way i answer this question is by visualizing 1 for 1 player deals...

Kobe on any other MVP candidate's team makes them undefeated.

and to whoever thinks that Kobe is a ballhog and makes people worse when around him; consider that Kobe averages 5.5 assists this year and has only Lamar Odom and Luke Walton to pass to....o wait they were both hurt, so I guess he got assists by passing to Radmono....nope he was hurt too.

fact is Kobe is the greatest ball player OF ALL TIME, MJ only averaged a career 5.3 assists, with actual other scorers on his teams.

Steve Nash- When he was injured his team went 1-3, and didnt look good at all, Steve Nash know exactly how to run the Suns, and without him, they would be a .500 team.
