How come everyone talks about US history, but never Canadian? Why don't people talk about what the Canadians did to the inuit natives? Why don't they talk about Canada's internment of japanese citizens during WWII? Why doesn't anyone talk about racism and segregation in Canadian history? Do Canadians hate America and constantly bash US history because they are too weak and afaid to confront their own?

in answer to this question i will talk about some canadian history i once requested an interesting book from the library it was called canadian concentration camps in world war 1 it was about the internment of german canadians and ukrainian canadians during worldwar 1 and the use of civilian labour in provincial parks and the justifying of by saying they were prisoners of war not civilians and so could be used for labour also the argument as tecnical soldiers they could be paid for it. it could be a sardonic book but it looked real.

I remember discussing about the above events in my grade 9 history class.

I think we tend not to think about them because we are ashamed of our behavior. Over the years, we are making up for our past mistakes - such as the Chinese head tax.

As for the Inuit (and I remember early primary school when they were referred to as "Eskimos"), the Canadian government is working with them to develop a sustainable self government. What about Nunavut?

For your last statement, I would not generalize to say Canadians hate Americans. I may disagree with decisions made by the American government but I do not hate Americans - generally I'm confused by many of their actions.

Canada kind of stays out of everyone's way, including their own.

Remember when you were growing up, you might have had a big brother that always stood up for everybody but always got the whoopins?

He might have been the one who was the most daring, but in the end, was the most successful of all?

(just an example).

In general, Canada doesn't turn itself into a target like the US.

I would suspect Canadians talk about Canadian history and people in the U.S. talk about U.S. history. Maybe people from the U.S. dont find Canadian history very interesting.

We never have a chance to talk about Canada cause all the bloody Americans won't just shut up for a minute! Americans have big mouths and Canadians are polite...that's why they can never get a word in. I mean, just look at how your question goes on and on!

For each sample you quote Canada has made & paid retribution. Has the US ever apologized for it's screwups throughout its history? I thought not.
