In the Amazing Race, when the contestants who are on standby at the airline manage to get on the flight, how does the cameraman always get on also? Shouldn’t the next contestants get on since they are next on the list of standbys?

i would guess that the show already has tickets for at least 2 crew members on every possible flight so that these seats are already filled not standby flights and they could not give these up to another team because they really need the crew on the plane to film it but to also make sure that no rules are broken

Brent, without the cameraman, there would be no show! Unless they do what the survivorman does, stand and talk in front of the camera, walk away, then go back to fetch the camera, lol. That wouldn't work. The show NEEDS the cameramen!
So I agree they must get tickets ahead of time or make arrangements at the airport that they need one cameraman on each flight that any contestant is on.

I've wondered the same thing. The cameraman and crew is taking spots away from the contestants. I agree with you.

The airlines know what going on, since they would have to get permission to shoot in the airport. So while everyone is asking for two tickets, (for the sake of us at home) everyone knows they really want three.

The producers of the show would have had to reserach the flights - so they probably booked so many tickets on each one of them on at the same time,
