If the Earth moved, we would fly off.
If the Earth moved, an object thrown straight up would come down somewhere else.
The expected parallax wasn't observed. (He thought the stars were very close, so the parallax must be huge.

It seemed obvious to them that the sun went around us because the sun came up in the East and went down in the West every day.

Just one good reason is that many people still think everything revolves around us, when they see the sun and stars move across the sky.

I suppose the main reason is that we can't feel the motion.
