I have always had a Windows OS growing up, but all the schools (except college) that I have gone to have always had Apples. I was always just wanted to know, why Apple?

I don't know that all public schools use Apple computers. Tulsa, Oklahoma has the largest public school district in the State of Oklahoma, and they use Windows XP Pro and Office XP. The computers are new, replaced as needed. The computer labs I worked in as a volunteer teaching seniors and the handicapped all had new computers. The money apparently is there to buy the equipment needed.

Because apple sales are down and they work deals with schools, that way they are trying to get kids used to the apple computer. Apple thinks teaching them on an apple will help make the kids buy one later in life.

Microsoft or Gateway donated 1000's of computers to public libraries as a advertising program. Apple then donated to some schools not to be outdone by Microsoft. If we are going to have an advertising war I think this is a good way to watch them fight it out we all win.

Apple has been known to provide fantastic 'Educational' computers, that are also great for personal stuff. Not all public schools use Macs, but a great deal of them do, mainly because of the simplicity of them. They are also great for a lot of the creative things that schools tend to do.

Because apples were donated to your schools. Most public school computers are donated by local businesses.

Apple cuts school districts a deal to encourage the youngins to get use to Macs! Secondly, they aint gotta worry about you messing them up with software and downloads because there isnt much software that will run on a Mac!
