Every argument that I have seen saying that teenagers should have uniforms can be disputed.
Equality despite money issues-one, if the student is poor, then they will only have one uniform, bad shoes, bad jackets, etc. Two, people are not characterized as equal or not no matter what clothes they wear. It's their personality that people pick on them for. A geek will always be a geek, and a jock will always be a jock.
It prevents students from bringing weapons to school: b.s. Anything can be a weapon. A pen, a pencil, hell, duct tape if you know how to make a point.
It will keep students out of gangs: where did you get this one? Ted Bundy, who was a very attractive man and appeared well dressed and groomed, was a serial killer. Clothes don't really matter.
Casual clothing makes students feel less open to learning: One, do students want to learn anyways? And two, students don't get many free dress days, so when they do have one, it's like a hay day.
I have to stop-running out of space

Yes, school uniforms should be the norm. Please spare me the adolescent argument(s) of poor vs. rich and all that. Many schools that have implemented a uniform mandate have also put together a uniform pool, which allows any student who needs a uniform, or part of one, has what they need.
Uniforms may not keep students "out of gangs", but they will keep the gangs out of school, or at least gang colors.
Yes, anything can be a weapon, which has nothing to do with the issue. Look, uniforms reduce the competition regarding clothing, but increases the academic competition sorely needed by our students today.
School is not a place to display the latest fashion, which most teenagers buy to show off. Show off your brains instead; leave the casual wear or almost-lingerie at home and wear it to those parties where the mating dance of the American teenager is in full swing.
Teamwork, personal grooming, less violence, better all around grades, respectful and grateful students..The fact is written right there, all of those things, DO happen when a school mandates uniforms. Go with it! It is really a great idea, specially for you. See, since you despise the uniform so much, it won't matter to you when the blood spatter from the pen attack gets all over you. Now see? That works, right?

I think the equality issue has considerable merit. Humans naturally judge people by appearance, and someone coming to school in designer clothes will be looked upon differently than someone wearing hand-me-downs. Your example of a poor kid having one uniform is more of an exception than a rule. Besides, schools have uniform exchanges and other ways for the less fortunate to obtain clothing, so in most cases people will have enough and relatively acceptable uniforms.
I think the biggest benefit is that it lowers household stress because it removes some of the anguish of figuring out what to wear every day and keeps parents from arguing with their kids about their choice of fashion.
I've never heard the weapons argument, but I agree with you.
Ted Bundy wasn't a gangster. Your analogy is false. Try again.
"Do students want to learn anyways?" Yes, they do. If you don't, then have fun flipping burgers or cleaning toilets.
Free dress days are a reward of sorts, so if it's a bit of a heyday then so be it.

i am from australia nd almost all our schools hav uniforms i thnk its a good idea athough at school i didnt think so. it dose promote equality although every thing is flawed nd yes som kids will still only hav an old, single uniform with bad shoes nd jacket (these r usally uniform issue any way) nd others will hav new ones it is still the same thing they r still dressed relatively the same. nothing is perfect this method is flawed yes but its still a good idea and works to a degree. also if i were a principal if every one is in unifor it would make my school look a little more respectable as there r many different people attending with many ideas on wat is acceptable respectable clothing

the youngsters in our state are in uniform already and jointly as some hate it lots of the youngsters I even have met do not recommendations them. Their recommendations are this is one much less element to think of approximately in the morning. they are given the call of army blue or khaki on the backside and the perfect should be polo variety shirts in an authorized college coloration. they are actually not truly undesirable finding yet not precisely reducing part style and a few young ones hate that. i admire the domicile college uniform extra advantageous. What ever i want what ever the youngsters want to placed on. it is not correct as long because of the fact the college day is complete in some unspecified time sooner or later throughout the time of the day.

It would be almost impossible to enforce, kids would think up countless excuses why they couldnt wear it then other kids would be upset because they had to wear it and some didnt. Good in theory bad in process. Uniforms would only make it difficult to idenity gang members. No preventing all types of weapons going into schools. Cons outway the pros in my book.

Absolutely not. Something happens to a human when you put him (or her) in a uniform. Just observe policemen, the military, nurses, businessmen in suits closely. A transformation occurrs in their psyche and their attitude and body language changes. 'My uniform entitles me to act superior to you, my uniform makes me exalted, you with your everyday clothes can never come even closer'.
I don't know why it happens, I only know it does.
