Motta relies on his perimeter when he has a Lottery center in Oden (He only took 8 shots in the Elite 8 game!)

Barnes can't figure out that Durant can post up any guard.

Self took the most team talent into the tournament and STILL flamed out defore the final four.

To me Self is the worst, then Barnes, followed by Motta (he is still alive after all)

What do you think?

Well ESPN projects 1 Lottery and a total of 4 Jayhawks would get drafted if they came out.

Look at this link...
http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/draft/tracker/school?draftyear=2007

it list 7 prospects. I don't see any other team having that many. THATS ALOT OF TALENT.

OK people, I played college ball. I lived this season to watch Durant play. And I'm an Illinois Alum so I see a lot of Big Ten play (which is terrible compared to the rest of the big conferences, btw)

So... if someone can explain how Self is one of 4 coaches that have been to the round of 16 FOUR TIMES but never seen the final four. One of four. Know what that means? Means he recruits great players then gets out coached in the tourn. UCLA was not as talented as KU but played better w a better gameplan.

Matta's boys get Oden 8-10 shots a game. If you think thats enough, you're crazy. He gets his points on rebounds and on the break. .Rarely in the offense.

I watched Barnes lose last minute games because he didn't run durant off of mult screens to get an open look. They lost to KU in the Big 12 Final by running the SAME baseline screen play they ran ALL GAME. He couldn't come up with a diff play?

There's a difference b/t recruiting (they're all great) and coaching...

Thad Motta is a great coach- remember, he found a way to take very little talent at Xavier and make a final eight. He also did a good job coaching a lot of young talent this year where allegdely better coaches- Roy Williams of UNC and Jim Calhoun of UConn, couldn't hack it this year.

Rick Barnes has proven he can win games at Texas. He has some issues winning the really big games- probably had a better team going into the 2003 title game, but his time will come. If you judge him sinply on this year because you thought Durant could carry that team you have not watched basketball long enough.

Bill Self is a curious case. Kansas has underachieved since Danny Manning in 1988. At least this year he got past the first round, but they don't step up for big games. On paper, UCLA should not have done what they did and that might be because Self didn't prepare them. It has happened before. I will bet if he doesn't win a title the next five years they'll look for his head at Kansas.

what? Matta is in the Final 4. Barnes and Self are watching at home. so what that Oden only took 8 shots in that game. Ohio State has a chance to win a national championship. Thad Matta is great coach who has lead his young team to a 34-3 record

Its Thad Matta, and he is one of the best coaches in the NCAA look at the talent he has recruited... And he relies on a lotto player like Oden? The only player comprable to him right now is Kevin Durant of Texas, and OSU beat Tennessee and Memphis without the use of the 3 pointer. So you obviously have no idea what your talking about...

They're all great coaches.

As we've seen during this tournament, it takes a little luck to get to the Final Four -- UCLA got there because KU missed open shots and Georgetown is there because of a missed traveling call in the sweet 16 game.

And are you implying that Boeheim (Syracuse) isn't a good coach cause they went to the NIT?

You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

I watched Barnes when he coached in the ACC. He was awful then, and he's awful now. He's easily the worst of the 3.

And for the record, Kansas definitely did not have the most talented team in the nation. Take a look at any draft board, and none of the Kansas players are at the top....
