How do I get stains off the top interior (inside roof) of a vehicle without ruining it?

If it is cloth, like most, it is almost impossible. First try a carpet stain remover, but use it very sparingly, because the adhesive that holds the fabric to the backing is very fragile to liquid. If this does not work, bleach it, then dye it. For dye, you can use Rit laundry dye (available in almost any grocery store or Wal Mart) but again, use both very sparingly.

This process is very painstaking, as you have to be so careful not to get either the bleach or dye on the seats, carpet, or door panels. You might want to consider taking it to a professional detailer.

with the inside of a car roof, it might be better to leave it completely alone---anything you do might ruin the glue, or whatever that causes it to stay put. Then you'll be left with a roof material hanging in folds down inside the car.

i did this with my wet dry vac. i sprayed the ceiling with a used spray bottle with a solution of liquid laundry detergent and water. then i just sucked it dry. came out fine.
