Already taken.

They started in the sixties as The Hawks backing up Ronnie Hawkins. Later, they moved on to backing Bob Dylan when he famously "went electric". They took the name The Band and began to make their own records such as "Music From Big Pink" and their self-titled album which stand highly among the best albums ever made; one of the greatest concert films of all time, "The Last Waltz" documents their final performance. So, unfortunately, you need to come up with a name that no band, especially one as legendary as The Band, has used yet.

If you want to check out if your band name has been used before you can go to allmusic.com and search for the name you have chosen and see if anything comes up.

It depends on what kind of band and the seriousness of it. Also on the music you will play. If it just a small band that is just for fun, no devotion, more a humoris band than yes. if you are planning on trying to make it in the music biz, than no i wouldnt sugjest it. people would laf.

Diddy already did that... the MTV's 2nd winners of "Making the Band" were called Da Band, and they sucked. (First being O-Town and 3rd being Danity Kane). I don't think you would want any association with Da Band.

"The Band" toured with Bob Dylan in the 60's
had hits on their own including "The night they drove old dixie down"

I'm sorry, but that's kind of bland. you should spice it up a little but. A good idea would be to do a color then a common noun. it usually sounds pretty cool.
