I'm assuming you mean scams as in "Free! Free!" and then all of a sudden "Please give us your billing information"? It's all part of the fallen world we live in! People nowadays care more about money than other people.

Nobody can put a stop to it because the internet is such a big place, spanning several countries. For instance the site "thepiratebay.org" provides free downloads of copyrighted material. They are well known, but will never be sued. The reason being? They are based in Sweden, which doesn't cooperate with American copyright laws.

The same goes for "phishing," the email scams that look like a bank asking you for your info but the info goes straight to the criminal that's phishing you. Nobody can find these people because the Internet is so large and anonymous.

I wish there were no scams in this world, but there are, just like there are pedophiles and virus writers. My advice to you is to get a couple of books on Internet scams and read them so you're well prepared in case something comes up.
