Five-eighths of the students in a class are boys. After six girls join the class, the number of boys and girls in the class is the same. How many students are in the class now?

the answer is twenty-four. if there are 5 boys in a class of 8, there are 3 girls. multiply the number by three and there is a total of twentyfour kids. 9 are girls 15 are boys. Add 6 to 9 and you get 15, which is the number of boys.
