Probably too much freon was added. Contrary to popular belief, your AC is coldest when the very least possible of Freon is used. That is the coldest AC unit. Not one that has a supercharge of extra freon.

Overcharging a unit with Freon is a common mistake. I once worked for Trane in Wisconsin and we did a survey and found that nearly 95% of service people dont charge properly AC with Freon and surprisingly that most dont even know how to Charge and AC unit. Most think a set of gages hang those on and read gages is about all there is too it. NOT SO IN THE LEAST.

By not working do you mean it doesn't run? If it doesn't run at all, maybe just get a hummmm and then nothing, compressor probably has failed. If you had to have it 'gassed up' to begin with, time to buy a new one.

perhaps the compressor is bad, maybe it leaks, or the evaporator is dirty.
