I grew up about 7 miles from New York City. That was awhile ago. Still have family there and visit some. it is great but expensive. The people are really nice, contrary to what you may have heard and there is always something to do. The best of everything is in NYC. I want to live there too but cannot afford it at this point even though we are middle to upper middle class. Taxes alone are very high. LOVE IT there.

I lived there for 3 years, when I was 18-20. Although, that was 15 years ago. It's very expensive and you have to work hard to pay your rent. The subways can be scary at times. You grow up real fast. You need to have a hard attitude and to be smart. Street- smart. I guess, it depends on where you are coming from. It's a whole another world!!!!

I lived there for 10 years. I went to NYU,a nd then lived there for a while after. It is VERY expensive, but so much fun! There is always something to do. Even just hanging out in washington square park and people watching is fun-
So many great restaurants, museums, boutiques. My fav. area is soho-
