Only if they think you are putting your baby in direct harm. If not, then get a good lawyer. Scary!
P.S. Lots of crazy people have kids. I certainly hope they wouldn't take kids away for that.

It depends on whether the person can safely take care of the children. There are many different mental illnesses with differing severities. It also depends on whether a person has help taking care of the children. DSS works to keep families together, if possible.

I sure hope not or they're coming for mine.
I dont see why they would if you've been properly diagnosed and medicated and the meds wont cause a problem. I was diagnosed with bi-polar 5 years ago and I just take my magic pill and I'm gravy.

Yes, depending on the illness and whether DSS feels that you are a threat to yourself OR your child. One example is when a mother exhibits suicidal tendencies. That is common with bipolar disorder. However, just because they are bipolar isn't enough, they have to show the suicidal tendencies.

They cannot take your child because of mental illness. They can, however, take your child if your illness (actions) put your child in danger. It not about you; it's about protecting your child from you.

Get a 2nd opinion.
Then a 3rd.
If the opinions are unanimous, then seek treatment.
