Sara Henderson - Written by Sara about her life on a sheep and cattle station in central Australia. 'Some of my friends have tails' was the best, but ALL of her books are worth reading. They are non-fiction and hard to put down.
Sylvia Browne is you like the paranormal.

How about The cosmos explained by Stephen Hawking
Seriously try Sarum or London by Edward Rutherford. Fantastic and with Sarum you won't need another book it's quite long.

try some off the beaten path from years ago. "vertical run" by joseph garber. have recommended it to many, all loved it. michael crichton's "timeline" is excellent as well. dennis lehane, who wrote mystic river, also wrote "shutter island", good, but rough. if you're a golfer, get "the green" by troon mcallister, one of the funniest pieces of golf fiction written.

'Kafka on the Shore' by Murakami Haruki.
A really pleasant, easy, but engrossing read. Full of imagination and clever story linking. I promise you'll like it.
