Clean out the ashes, then add a small container of Baking soda for several hours before use, make sure the door is closed to the stove. Make sure everyone knows there is a small container with Baking soda in there before they go and set up and light the stove first else you could have a melted or damaged container as well as a snuffed out fire in your stove. When those several hours are up remove the container and clean the door on the stove to remove soot, brush off the soot with a a stiff brush and clean all visible signs of soot and ashes, your stove will smell nice and fresh again.
