hes at a daycare, they change him often but he stays with it, tonight before i put him in the tub i noticed his butt had a spot of blood on it. he uses luvs diapers, weve used others (huggies & pampers) but they seem to leak & he still had the rash (but not quite as bad) he is starting to eat table foods, hes not teething (anyways thats a total myth teething has no affect on diaper rash) we HAVENT switched laundry detergents, bath soaps, or formula
anyone know what foods cause diaper rash? or a good medicine i can use on him?

i work in the next room at the daycare & i know they change him often... we used to put vaseline on him after everychange, but we think that may be making it worse so we layed off weve been putting desitin at daycare & balmex at home. the days care provides boudreaux's (its made a few miles from here) i'll get them to try using that tomorrow.
oh & he doesnt drink juice, just milk (formula)

The best thing to get rid of a baby rash... over night even... that I found with my three sons is Bag Balm! It comes in a square green tin. It says they use it on cow udders but believe me it is awesome!
Other suggestions are: Stay away from juices right now or at least half them with water. Also, be sure to use a baby powder with cornstarch if you are using powder at all. Make sure you change him the second he gets the diaper wet.

I would double-check with the daycare to see how often they really are changing him. It might be due to chafing. I recommend Boudreaux's Butt Paste. Last week, my 5-month-old son bled a bit because of chafing, and I used the Butt Paste; it was gone within the next day. It's pretty pricey for diaper rash medicine, but I swear by it.
Hope this helps. Good luck! :-)

Try to use Johnson's Diaper Cream. He may need a prescription from the doctor for Nystatin if the rash is bumpy like pimples and real red. It could be the table foods.

try putting a THIN layer of 1% hydrocortizone cream on and then Desitin. Also maybe try making your own wipes. I have done so for my daughter and she is 18 mos. Only has had 1 diaper rash. I use Viva papertowels cut in half with 2 cups hot water and 2 tbsp baby wash and 2tbsp baby oil. Its cheap and easy and Safe. I bought a container at walmart that has a lid and I squeeze the pt into it put the oil and wash in then the water. let it set then pull the pt tube out. they work wonders!

You might want to take him to the Doctor, often even in little boys a diaper rash that won't go away is not a rash at all but a yeast infection. There are prescription creams for this which would clear it up quickly.

It could be an infection. My oldest son went through this when he was a baby. I tried everything!! Finally I took him to the Dr and just one look and he said it was a fungal infection of the skin. He prescribed him with Nystatin ointment & by the next day it was almost cleared up. In 2 days it was gone. Hope that his little bottom is better soon. Good luck!!!

Are u sure the daycare is changing him often? Maybe he just has sensitive skin like my baby does. I put Vaseline on his bottom every morning and night to help prevent diaper rash. You need to use a cream after every diaper change to prevent diaper rash. There are plenty in the stores.

I am familiar with this kind of rash. I had to use Lotrimin cream (for jock itch). I also switched to cloth diapers because of the rash, and it cleared up in two days and never came back (she potty trained 10 months later). Sunlight is also good, as well as going with no diaper. My sister puts her son in those thick underwear (not the waterproof ones) by Gerber. It helps him, but you have to keep checking to make sure he's dry. Also, don't let anyone use wipes on him at all. Use washcloths dampened with plain water.

You can never know how often he is really being changed at the daycare. I would make it a point to stop in unexpectedly one day to see what's going on. When you get there, unannounced, check his diaper. See if it's dirty. I don't think they would admit to not changing him often.
I would switch to a natural, non-chlorine bleached diaper. Like Seventh Generation Diapers. They aren't bleached and are not as irritating to baby's bottom. Plus they don't have those harmful dioxins in them from the bleaching. They are a little more expensive but well worth it.

The best way to get rid of a diaper rash, I think from experience is to stop using baby wipes. Just use warm water and a towel and make sure he's dry. Also, use diaper rash cream. NO MORE BABY WIPES!
