If your car is older, it might have small holes in the sheetmetal that makes the floor. Get a screwdriver and try to poke a hole in the bottom of the car around where the carpet is wet. If the floor is rusty and weak, it is perforated with rust holes and the screwdriver might push through rather easily by hand. NO, DON'T HAMMER IT IN, just push firmly by hand. If that's not it, you might have a leak in a roof seam that is following the sheetmetal down the center pillar or lock pillar and soaking the carpet.

I had to repair the seal myself, silicone sealant and changing the small plastic screws to hold down the gasket is all it took. you will get those issues at any vehicle factors keep, keep your self alot of money and worry too. one thank you to appreciate if this is the windshield, could be to thoroughly eliminate the moisture with a shampooer or moist/dry vac, then park the vehicle interior a storage or below a water evidence shape for the night. a heater center could nevertheless leak regardless of if that's undesirable. and there could be a candy scent in the interior the vehicle. terrific of success with your situation, easiest thank you to tell is via the attitude of removal. the windshield leak may be the main inexpensive one to repair...

What make, model and year is the car? My friend has a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville that had the same problem. The water was coming in through an unsealed area of the cowling. Had to take the dash out to seal it.

Your air conditioner could be creating alot of condensation, the condenser is usually located right up under the glove box, it has happened to me, also your heater core could have broken, or cracked, also located on firewall usually behind the stereo or dash, it will leak coolant or water onto your floorboard.
try not running the A/C for a couple days and see if more water has collected or if the problem is solved, and smell the water if there is still water there after the A/C test. if it smells sweetish than you have a broken heater core.

it may be running down from another location. maybe the roof? it could be running down the A or B pillars. do you have a sun roof? maybe a hole in the floor? do you have any bottles of liquid that could have simply knocked over?
try laying in the foot well with a flash light. and have someone spray the car down with water and see if anything is leaking in anywhere. then follow that.

i own a repair shop, and its either coming in from a door or you have a busted heater core in it,this will make it fill the passengers side of it up,try checking the coolant level in it and seeing if its low,if it is your going to need a new heater coil, and really fast too,i doubt that you have that bad of a leak coming from around a door unless you left a glass down in it,good luck i hope this helps.

if you have been using your a/c or defrost , its possible vent hose is clogged up causing water to get in car. thats where it gets wet if this happens. you can find the hose under the hood on the fire wall pas.. side. stick a hanger or wire in it to unclog
