i have a pro/con debate coming up in april and im the PRO side of it, as in yes, parents should be legally liable for the actions of their kids.

i need six questions to be asked, that i can make up.

so far im stuck! can anyone thinkn of any good questions that I can be asked so that I will win the debate.

p.s. - my opponent needs rebuttals, too.

thanks in advance!

.... questions to ask the "parents shouldn't be held liable for what their kids do" side?

I don't know if I can help you with questions, but here's my thoughts....

Up to a point, I think parents need to be held accountable for their child(ren)'s behavior. Accountability is a great motivator. Knowing I'm legally accountable for what my kid does motivates me to teach my kid to not do things that will get me in trouble. (Mostly, I think this teaching takes the form of teaching my kid ethics, morals, etc.....)

But after a certain age, there's not much parents can do- Teenagers have the ability to make their own choices. And their choices aren't always in line with what Mom/Dad want or would approve of or tolerate.

I'm sure you've thought of all this.... Maybe you could take the practical angle.
How old must a child be to be psychologically able to understand accountability/liability.... and fulfill that obligation?
Who should be held liable before a child reaches that age?

Best of luck...
