Say if you started digging a hole in the ground and just dug and dug and dug, and if there was no molten magma to go through in the centre of the earth, would you come out the other side head first or feet first?

Great answers guys - keep them coming. I get what you are saying about gravity - that is what I told my Dad, but if you turned around in the centre of the earth and started digging up you would no longer have anything to stand on! The earth below you would be gone as you have already dug it!

head first, just make sure to have some climbing equipment so you don't fall back through the other way

Gravity pulls all things towards their centre, therefore at any point on earth you will stand with your feet pointing towards the core. Therefore as you go past the core you will turn around and eventually be digging up not down.
However this is completely impossible because, firstly it would take a very long time to dig anywhere near even the magma layer and the hole would probably collapse; and the core is made of solid iron which is quite difficult to get through!!

You would dig DOWN anywhere on the surface, until you reached the centre of the earth, and there is no more down, only up!
So head first!
All to do with gravity!

good question! i have no idea, my first answer would be feet first cuz if u kept going straight down u'd have to come out feet first...i think? if u kept looking down while u were digging the hole at the other side wouldnt appear above your head would it?!?

Head first with a gob full of caved in dirt. You'd turn around in the middle and start to dig up.

It seems natural that it would be feet first unless the crust broke and it all fell in on you, then you might not get out at all.
