There is an inversely proportional relationship between knowledge or wisdom and happiness.
There are two quotes that have been repeated by many spectacular people that hold true most of the time.
"Ignorance is bliss" thus implying that the opposite is also true.
"Life is Pain ; Anyone who tells you differently is trying to sell you something".
Read a book called "The Praise of Folly". If you get through it you will understand why the "Fools" are happier than everyone else.

It depends on how the intelligent people use their intelligence. Many intelligent people do not handle social situations very well and they might not be very happy due to the lack of fun in terms of socializing.
Usually, the intelligent people learn to ignore the things that make them unhappy and focus on the things that please them. But they end up missing a lot of fun by ignoring fun-seeking people.
Many intelligent people have a very high intelligence quotient (IQ) but have a low emotional quotient (EQ). The trick is finding a balance between the two. The smart people who are truely intelligent are able to have a good social life while at the same time keep their interests in other things.

No, skillful yes but not intelligence. People who have the skills needed to deal with life's hardships and are surrounded by supportive people are more likely to succeed and be happier.

i do not imagine it has some thing to do with intelligence. i understand human beings that've killed themselves and they determination from stupid to really wise. I have also had those thoughts so i understand it comes from an indescribable position of hopelessness and only feeling that existence isn't properly worth residing. i imagine what it comes right down to (by a lot introspection in this topic) is having a purpose in this existence as well as love. i became only talking to someone about this, and it amazes me the quantity of will and fearlessness it ought to take to easily go by with killing your self. to imagine about it a lot is one ingredient, yet only imagine that second once you do it...the finality and unknown element of that's terrifying. Sorry on your loss, by technique of ways.

I know too many intelligent people who are very unhappy. I think the happiest people I know choose to live simple lives not because they are simple-minded but because they know the 'secret' to being happy.

No. There is not a positive one. There is, however, a negative one as you suspected.
