i own a repair shop, and its probably not burning oil but it could have a bad sending unit on it,if not that the most thing i have seen a lot of lately is a sludge build up in the engine and this collects to the oil pan where it stops the pick up tube up on it,and this will cause it to fall down to a low oil pressure once it has gotten warm, that's the most problem i have seen from them in a while, this is something to keep in mind,id have the oil sending unit changed on it for now, those things do go out,and cause this a lot, good luck i hope this helps.

You should have a mechanic check this out right away. Most likely it's a bad sensor (just had 1 go on me).

You should check and see if a bluish smoke comes out of your tailpipe when you hit the gas. If so, you have a blown head gasket. Also check your radiator coolant by taking the cap off the radiator and seeing if there is a multi-coloured slick on the water there. (Be sure the car has not been running for at least 4 hours when you do this - the water can be very hot).

If you don't see smoke or the oil slick in the radiator, check to see if your oil is milky when you check your dipstick.

If none of these happen, it's probably just your sensor, which is a cheap repair.

Driving with low oilpressure can ruin your engine, though.

could be a bad sender in the oil pan, blown head gasket, or a leak. THe most common thing is that you are burning oil, and in that case you need to take it in and find out what is going on.

a lot of cars don't require much oil pressure (around 8-12 psi is min. for most gm cars & around 22-28psi at 2000 rpm depending on year make & model) most owners manuals have this info in them if not a auto repair manual for your vehicle will
